Funeral service will be held Thursday for 64-year-old Robert J. Esselman of Perryville, who died Monday at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on May 25, 1934 in Perry County, the son of the late Ralph W. and LaVerne (Guyott) Esselman.

He was married to Wilma Oswald. She survives in Perryville.

Surviving are the following children:

Mary Ann Popielorcyk of New York; Nancy Sanders of Tipton, Mo.; Joan Wilfong of Tipton, Mo.; and Robert Esselman Jr. Of Fountain, Co.

Two step-children survive: Michael Bemis and Cindy Bemis, both of Perryville.

Three sisters survive: Joella Layton of Perryville; Bonnie Fuytinck of Mount Morris, MI; and Sharon Oswald of Perryville.

Ten grandchildren and three step-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by two children, Marie and Janet.

He was a member of AmVets Post 94.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. and Thursday from 6:30-8:30 a.m. at Young and Sons Chapel.

Funeral service for Robert J. Esselman will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.

Memorial preference is for the family’s use.
