Weldon J. Ernst A funeral service was scheduled to be held this morning, Monday, September 27, 1999 for 73-year-old Weldon J. Ernst who died Thursday, September 23rd at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born October 11th, 1925 in Biehle, the son of Joseph L. Ernst and Anna C. Zoellner Ernst who preceded in death. He married Wilberta T. "Birdie" Bohnert on October 1st, 1949 in Apple Creek. She survives in Perryville. Two sons also survive: Terry J. Ernst of Oran and Warren T. Ernst of Perryville. Two daughters also survive: Suzette A. Schilling of Perryville and Vickie A. Epley of St. Louis. Seven brothers survive: Arnold and Bernard, both of Perryville; and Joseph, Stanley, Donald, Tom and Edward, all of St. Louis. One sister survives: Anna Mae Blanc of St. Louis. One son also preceded him in death. He had been a farmer and attended St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle where he was a lector and had served on the parish council and school board. He was a founding member of the Biehle Social Club where he was a baseball coach, a major contributor to the ball field in 1962 and was co-organizer of the Biehle Cloverleaf 4-H Club in 1963. He served 19 years on the Perry County Farm Bureau Board, including 14 years as president and was involved in statewide Farm Bureau activities. He served 14 years as a board member of the Mercantile Bank in Perryville. He also served as a board member of the Perry County Nursing Home and the Biehle Community Fire Department. A funeral was scheduled to be held this morning, Monday, September 27th, for 73-year-old Weldon J. Ernst, at the St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle. The Rev. Mark Bozada was expected to officiate. Burial was scheduled to be at the St. Maurus Church cemetery. The Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville was in charge of arrangements. |
