David E. "Blackie" Hawthorne

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000 for 85-year-old David E. "Blackie" Hawthorne of Perryville who died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1915 in Blair, Illinois, the son of the late James C. and Josie (Blair) Hawthorne).

He was married to Mildred M. Allison. She preceded him in death.

One son and one daughter survive, James J. Hawthorne of New Orleans, La., and Elizabeth H. black of Perryville.

One granddaughter, Anna Berkbuegler, also survives.

Two sisters, Beulah Fitzpatrick and Elberta Wily, preceded him in death.

He was a member of American Legion, AmVets of Perryville, Masonic Lodge of Chester, First Presbyterian Church in Chester and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2000 from 5-9 p.m. and on Saturday, July 29 from 6:30-8:30 a.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. Friday; the Masonic Lodge wake service will be at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service for David E. "Blackie" Hawthorne will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Chester. Rev. Dan Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Ill.

Memorial preference is to the First Presbyterian Church in Chester or Southeast Special Olympics.
