Lavern I. Emmendorfer Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 3, 2001 for 77-year-old Lavern I. Emmendorfer of Perryville who died Sunday at Perry County Nursing Home. She was born on Nov. 21, 1923 in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Amiel Lawrence and Sarah Edith (Bass) Colin. She was married to Thomas Ferdinand Abernathy in 1942. He preceded her in death. She was married to Franklin G. Emmendorfer in 1965. He preceded her in death. Children surviving are Thomas Abernathy of Jefferson, Texas; Robert Abernathy of Perryville; Danny Abernathy of Perryville; Judy Hawkins of Troy, Ill.; and Joyce Mehrer of Chester, Ill. Two sisters survive, Delores Schirmer of St. Louis, and Lenite Grindstaff of Engelwood, Co. A loving friend Russell Nelson of Steeleville, Ill survives her. Ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive. One infant daughter, one son, Roy Lee Abernathy, six brothers, two sisters, and three step brothers preceded her in death. Visitation will be Thursday, May 3 from 4-6 p.m. at Young and Sons Chapel. Memorial service for 77-year-old Lavern I. Emmendorfer will be held Thursday, May 3, 2001 at 6 p.m. at Young and Sons Chapel. Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate. Memorial preference is to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
