Dr. Stephen Paul Bey

A funeral will be held Tuesday, December 18th, 2001, for 82-year-old Dr. Stephen Paul Bey of Perryville who died Saturday, December 15th at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 2, 1919 in Perryville, the son of Dr. John E. Bey and Marie Dorrenbach Bey who both preceded him in death.

He married Shirley C. "Shea" Kupferer on February 3rd, 1951 in St. Louis. She survives in Perryville.

One daughter, Carolyn M. Pontillas of Perryville and one son, John Bey of Cape Girardeau, also survives him.

Five grandchildren also survive.

Two brothers, Albert and Felix Bey and two sisters, Constance Yarling and Gertrude Bey, also preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and the Washington University School of Dentistry. He served as a captain with the Army Dental Corps during his active duty with the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood. He had a dental practice in Perryville for 43 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Lion's Club and was a retired member of the Missouri Dental Association. He also served on the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Council.

Visitation will be 6-9 this evening (Monday, December 17th) and from 6:30-9:50 a.m. Tuesday, December 18th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish wake with the Knights of Columbus at 7 this evening (Monday, December 17th).

A funeral mass for 82-year-old Dr. Stephen Paul Bey of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 18th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz, C.M., will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
