Robert Norfleet Boggan Robert Norfleet Boggan, age 83, of Jacksonville died Thursday, May 10th, 2001. He was born March 17, 1918, in Griffithville, Arkansas, to Troy Pet Boggan and Lillie Mae Story Boggan. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Verna Bachmann Boggan; daughters Karilyn Peterson, Joyce Moore and husband Steve, Pat Phillips and husband Jim, and Erin Boggan; son Dwayne Boggan; grandchildren Bill and Amanda Moore, William Peterson, Art and Henry Phillips, and Jennifer and Jessica Boggan; sisters Mattie Duncan, Jean Holt, and Melba O’Brien; his brother Jimmy Boggan; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Boggan was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William, Clarence, and Tommy Boggan; and by his sister Mamie Phillips. He was a graduate of Des Arc High School and received his B.S. in Agriculture from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro at the age of 59. Mr. Boggan retired from the U.S. Air Force, and served in both WWII and the Korean War, and was awarded the Soldiers Medal. He served as Director of Arkansas Veterans Services from 1967 to 1971. Mr. Boggan was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and the Arkansas Retired Military Association. He was also a member of the Arkansas Native Plant Society, proudly displayed his "I’m an American Tree Farmer" bumper sticker on his pickup truck, and was a lifelong advocate for the environment. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Hope Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park and Mausoleum on J. P.
