William J. ‘Bill’ Galeski

A funeral will be held Thursday, May 16th, 2002 for 72-year-old William J. "Bill" Galeski of Perryville who died Monday, May 13th at his residence.

He was born July 5th, 1929 on Kaskaskia Island, Illinois, the son of Charles John and Edna Carlyle Galeski who both preceded him in death.

His fiancée, Ruth Heck, survives in Perryville.

He is survived by four daughters and three sons in law: Jo Ann and Roger Brown of Sedgewickville, Pat Besand of Cape Girardeau, Sandy and Rich Powers of St. Louis and Terry Vince Favier of McClure, Illinois.

He is also survived by one son and a daughter in law: Tony and Donna Galeski of Perryville.

He is also survived by six siblings: Helisy Blow of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; Harold Galeski of O'Fallon, Illinois; Virgil Galeski of Valmeyer, Illinois; Rosemary Corcoran of San Lorenzo, California; John Galeski of Perryville; and Mary Long of St. Charles.

Thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

He was married to Floetta McDonald on October 19th, 1949. She survives.

He was preceded in death by a son in law, John; three brothers, Charles, Herbert and Bernard and three sisters, Anita, Marcia and Edna.

He was a livestock and agriculture farmer and horse trader.

He was a member of the Catholic faith and the Perry County Saddle Club.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 15th and 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A Catholic wake will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 72-year-old William J. "Bill" Galeski of Perryville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Kevin Fausz, C.M., will officiate.

Due to the weather, burial will be at a later time at the Kaskaskia Island Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Southeast Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
