Roy L. Anderson

A funeral will be held Saturday, August 16th, 2003 for 77-year-old Roy L. Anderson of Perryville who died Tuesday, August 12th in Perryville.

He was born August 23rd, 1925 in St. Mary, the son of Roy and Bernice (Moll) Anderson, who both preceded him in death.

He married Gerry Moonier on November 16th, 1946. She survives in Perryville.

Survivors also include: four sons and three daughters in law, Richard and Leslie Anderson of Ashland, Charles and Nancy Anderson of Perryville, Mike Anderson of Perryville, Kenneth and Beth Anderson of Perryville; two daughters and two sons in law, Jean and Kent Nelson of Ozora and Helen and Larry Abbott of Perryville; two sisters and brothers in law, Mary and Odis Hammer of Bloomsdale and Elizabeth and George Maledy of St. Louis; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was a salesman at the Chevrolet automobile dealership in Perryville for 40 years.

He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Parish Council, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

He was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, scoutmaster of Troop 250 from 1959 to 1972, recipient of the St. George emblem and Silver Beaver Award.

He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and the VFW, past president of the Perryville Country Club and loved to fish, hunt and was a promoter of conservation.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday, August 15th and 6:30-10 a.m. Saturday, August 16th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish and Knights of Columbus wake will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 77-year-old Roy L. Anderson of Perryville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery with military graveside honors. The Revs. Kevin Fausz, C.M., Wilbert Bruns, John Gagnepain and Alphonse Hoernig will co-officiate.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Church Endowment Fund.
