Walter Ignatius Bohnert

A funeral will be held Saturday, August 16th, 2003 for 91-year-old Walter Ignatius Bohnert of Perryville who died Tuesday, August 12th at the Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born November 13, 1911 in Longtown, the son of August Vincent Bohnert and Maria Johanna Unterreiner Bohnert who both preceded him in death.

He married Luella Trapp on October 19, 1948 in Apple Creek. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sisters: Bertha C. Wibbenmeyer, Irma T. Buchheit and Cornelia O Ernst, all of Perryville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Rudy, August and Joseph; and a sister, Mary.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and retired from the International Shoe Company after 34 years. He also farmed.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, the Apple Creek Men's Club, VFW and was a third degree Knight of Columbus.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 15th and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.

A VFW service will be held at 6:30 p.m., and a parish wake with the Knights of Columbus will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and the Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 91-year-old Walter Ignatius Bohnert of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 16th at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, the Rev. Anthony Datillo will officiate. Burial will be at St. Michael's cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 133.
