Harvey B. Drake
He was born May 9, 1928 in Boykins, Virginia, the son of A.B. and Minnie (Outland) Drake, who both preceded him in death. He married Juanita T. Prost on September 13th, 1969 in Hampton, Virginia. She survives in Perryville. Survivors also include: one son and daughter in law, Alan B. and Pamela Drake of Yale, Virginia; one granddaughter, Jessica Drake of Yale, Virginia; and two sisters, Ruby Smith of Huntersville, North Carolina and Pearl Carte of Boykins, Virginia. Three brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death. He was the manager of a grocery company and after retirement, worked at Wal Mart for 14 years. He also did custom furniture refinishing. He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the 45th Thunderbirds Unit. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a member of both VFW Post No. 4282 and American Legion Post No. 133. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 12th and 6:30-10 a.m. Saturday, September 13th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. A VFW service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral for 75-year-old Harvey B. Drake of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 13th at the Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz CM will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. American Legion Post No. 133 will provide military honors at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Education Foundation or to the American Cancer Society. |
