Madeline M. Cosgrove

A funeral will be held Monday, June 28th, 2004 for 71-year-old Madeline M. Cosgrove of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Silver Lake, died Thursday, June 24th, in the Kentucky Lake area where she was vacationing with her husband, John "Jack" Cosgrove.

She was born June 23, 1933 in Silver Lake, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Maddock) Zahner.

She married John "Jack" Cosgrove on October 6th, 1956 in Silver Lake. He survives in Silvis, Illinois.

Survivors also include: six daughters and sons-in-law, Karen "Kae" and Paul Garner of East Moline, Illinois; Sharon "Shari" and Danny Barnes of East Moline, Illinois, Mary Kolleen and Jeff Sloan of Pittsboro, Indiana, Joan and Dave McDermott of Springfield, Illinois, Ann and Loren Lembke of Geneseo, Illinois, and Liz and Alex McGehee of Silvis, Illinois; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Sally Cosgrove of Colona, Illinois, and Tom and Suzanne Cosgrove of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 30 grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Bauman of Ste. Genevieve and LeeAnn Adams of St. Louis; and one brother, Clarence Zahner of Silver Lake.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Norbert, Herman and Jerome Zahner.

She was a 1954 graduate of the DePaul Hospital School of Nursing. She worked alongside her husband in the daily operation of Cosgrove Pharmacy for 47 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadulupe Catholic Church, serving as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Pro-Life Committee. She was active in bowling, golf and card clubs.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday, June 27th at the Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline, Illinois, where the rosary will be recited at 1 p.m.

A funeral for 71-year-old Madeline M. Cosgrove of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Silver Lake, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 28th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis, Illinois.

Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Rock Island, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to Right to Life or to the Guadulupe Catholic Church.
