Martin Clifton A funeral was held this morning, Monday, October 18th, 2004 for 79-year-old Martin Clifton of Perryville who died Thursday, October 14th at his home. He was born March 30th, 1925 in Menfro, the son of Norman and Grace (Foster) Clifton who both preceded him in death. He married Lonieta Ruessler on September 28th, 1946. She preceded him in death. He married Viola Cashion on September 2nd, 2000. She survives in Perryville. Survivors also include: two sons and daughters in law, Martin A. and Eunice Clifton of Dodge City, Kansas and Paul D. and Betty Clifton of Arnold; one daughter and son in law, Anna Grace and C. W. 'Butch' Brune of Perryville; one stepdaughter and her husband, Carolyn and Fred Childers of Roxane, Illinois; one stepson and his wife, Randy and Laura Childers of Edwardsville, Illinois; one sister, Irene Harger of Perryville; three brothers, Virgil Clifton of St. Louis, Francis Clifton of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Lawrence Clifton of Columbus, Indiana; six grandchildren; one step grandchild; three great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren. A sister, Mae Clifton and three brothers, Cecil, Jody and Fred Clifton, also preceded him in death. He was retired from Mississippi Lime Company. He was member and former elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher and R.A. teacher at the First Baptist Church in Perryville and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A funeral for 79-year-old Martin Clifton of Perryville was held at 10 a.m. today, Monday, October 18th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Burial was at the Home Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Fullerton officiated. American Legion Post No. 133 provided the military graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Park Hills Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association. |
