Edgar Leo Balsman A funeral will be held Thursday, April 7th, 2005 for 81-year-old Edgar Leo Balsman of Uniontown, who died Monday, April 4th at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born February 20th, 1924 in Perry County, the son of Leo Andrew Balsman, who preceded him in death, and Gertrude Caroline (Unterreiner) Balsman, who survives in Uniontown. He married Corrine Anne Blechle on August 16th, 1947. She preceded him in death. Survivors include: a son and daughter in law, Stan and Debbie Balsman of Uniontown; five daughters and three sons in law, Carol and Joe Bindbeutel of St. Charles, Jan and Rick Heise of Perryville, Sheila and Scott Kim of Friedheim, Brenda Miller of St. Charles and her special friend Leon Laws of St. Louis, and Diane Balsman of St. Louis; a brother, Leo Balsman of Apple Creek; two sisters, Anna Marie Ernst and Jean Ann Buerck, both of Perryville; a very special friend, Felicia Fox of Cape Girardeau; eight God children, numerous nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren and two great grandsons. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy; a son in law, Frank Miller; an infant brother, Joseph; and a sister, Trudie Kohlfield. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, St. Joseph Mens Organization, Knights of Columbus Wm. J. Barnwell Council 1263, The Missouri State Teachers Assocation, The Sikeston Public School Teachers Association, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), the International Edsel Car Club, and St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary. Visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 6th, 2005, and 6:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, April 7th at the Young and Sons Chapel in Perryville. A Knights of Columbus Parish Wake will be held Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. A funeral mass for 81-year-old Edgar Leo Balsman of Uniontown will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7th at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek. Burial at the St. Michael Cemetery in Apple Creek. The Revs. Jim Unterreiner and Tony Dattilo will officiate. Memorial preferences are to the American Heart Association, or the charity of your choice. |
