Monroe J. Gagnepain

A funeral will be held Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 for 98-year-old Monroe J. Gagnepain of Perryville who died Monday, December 19th at the Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born March 4th, 1907 in Perry County, the son of Emmett J. and Mary A. (Cissell) Gagnepain who both preceded him in death.

He married Patricia Reiss on April 6th, 1931. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by a daughter and son in law, Susan M. and John Vogt of Crestwood; three grandchildren, John P., Tricia and her husband Mike Rosh and Susanne Vogt and her fiancee Mike Derenski all of St. Louis and two great grandchildren, Logan and Adam Rosh.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow, Wallace "Si" and the Rev. Francis Gagnepain and two sisters, Erline Agnew and Stella Gagnepain.

He worked at International Shoe, and then as a retail clerk for many years at Rozier's Mercantile.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus - Third and Fourth Degree and Navigator of the Assembly for many years. He was also a crossing guard at St. Vincent School and Fleas.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 21st and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22nd at the Young and Sons Funeral Home. Knights of Columbus and parish wake will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 98-year-old Monroe J. Gagnepain of Perryville will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22nd at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

The Revs. Francis Agnew C.M. and Kevin Fausz will co-officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Southeast Hospice or to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
