Gladys Elder

A funeral will be held Saturday, February 5th, 2005 for 86-year-old Gladys Elder of Perryville who died today, February 2nd, at the Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born December 24th, 1918 in Perryville, the daughter of Joseph and Thelma (Kitchen) Brewer who both preceded her in death.

She married Russell A. Elder on January 29th, 1938. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters and one son in law, Cynthia and Larry Wilson of Perryville, Virginia Meister of Perryville and JoAnn and Del Moore of Fenton; one son and daughter in law, Tom and Juanita Elder of Perryville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A twin brother, George and a half-sister, Stella Reeser, also preceded her in death.

She was a seamstress and homemaker.

She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Cursillo and Missouri Extension Club.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday, February 4th and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 5th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake will be held at 6 p.m. Friday and the Rosary will be recited Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral for 86-year-old Gladys Elder of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5th at the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Thess will officiate.
