James W. Clifton A funeral will be held Monday, March 28th, 2005 for 86-year-old James W. Clifton of Perryville who died Wednesday, March 23rd at the Perry County Nursing Home. He was born February 9th, 1919 in Menfro, the son of Lonnie and Flora (Schindler) Clifton who both preceded him in death. He married Norma L. Fritsche May 19th, 1945. She survives in Perryville. Survivors include: five daughters and sons in law, Patricia and Edward Hager of Elkton, MD, Carolyn and Larry Pecaut, Linda and Dennis Mattingly, Jeanine and Danny Kennon, all of Perryville, Diana and Tom Kennedy of Hillsboro; five sons and daughters in law, James and Kathy Clifton, Richard and Donelle Clifton, Stephen and Mary Ann Clifton, Robert and Michelle Clifton, all of Perryville, Michael and Cindy Clifton of Washington; two sisters, Rita Vessell of St. Louis and Marie Gormley of Steelville; 22 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Fred Clifton. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Crosstown, and Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 27th and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 28th at the Young and Sons chapel in Perryville. A Catholic wake will be conducted Sunday at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass for 86-year-old James W. Clifton of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be provided by American Legion Post 133. The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate. Make memorials to the American Cancer Society or the St. James Catholic Church in Crosstown. |
