William R. ‘Pete’ Abernathy

A funeral was held today, Monday, November 7, 2005, for 81-year-old William R. "Pete" Abernathy of Perryville who died Friday, November 4th at the Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born November 26, 1923 in Brazeau, the son of Dudley and Ida Mae (Milster) Abernathy who both preceded him in death.

He married Verlene Milliano on August 17th, 1946. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by a son, Gary Abernathy of Perryville; four daughters, Sharon Cissell, Gail Cissell, Janine Mills and Lisa Miller, all of Perryville; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Abernathy, a brother, Jack Abernathy and a sister, Ruth Klump.

He was a retired bricklayer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 133, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4282, life member of AmVets, and he was a Master Mason of Masonic Lodge No. 670, A.F. and A.M.

A funeral for 81-year-old William R. "Pete" Abernathy of Perryville was held today, Monday, November 6th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz, C.M., officiated.

Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors by VFW Post No. 4282.
