Wilbert W. Enke

A funeral will be held Monday, July 3rd, 2006 for 85-year-old Wilbert W. Enke of Altenburg who died Friday, June 30th at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1920 in St. Louis, the son of Walter and Lena (Wachter) Enke, who both preceded him in death.

He married Emma Kranawetter who survives in Altenburg.

He is also survived by a daughter and son in law, Doris and Harold Fritsche of Perryville; two sons and daughters in law, James and Rhonda Enke and Gerald and Louise Enke, all of Perryville; two brothers: Kelly Enke of Uniontown, Robert Enke of Columbus, Georgia; two sisters, Delphine Kasten and Dorothy Mueller, both of St. Louis; three granddaughters, Dana Register, Angela Geile and Amy Weinkein and two great grandsons, Mitchell Geile and Clayton Weinkein.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Jr. and Harold Enke and a sister, Pearline Novak.

He was a retired truck driver for Schaefer Water Care.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, a World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient, a member of AmVets Post No. 94 and American Legion Post No. 133 and a past commander of VFW Post No. 4282.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Sunday, July 2nd and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Monday, July 3rd at the Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg. A VFW wake will be held at 7 p.m.

A funeral for 85-year-old Wilbert W. Enke of Altenburg will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 3rd at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Steven Dressler will officiate. Military graveside service will be provided by VFW Post 4282.
