Elvis A. Hoffman

A funeral will be held Saturday, March 11, 2005 for 86-year-old Elvis L. Hoffman of Perryville, who died Wednesday, March 8th at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 10, 1919 in Perryville, the son of Lawrence and Ida (Schindler) Hoffman who both preceded him in death.

He married Frances M. Peters on January 21st, 1946. She preceded him in death.

He married Wilma Vadjos on October 17th, 1982. She survives.

He is also survived by three sons and daughters in law: Richard and Mary Ann Hoffman of Cape Girardeau, David and Joan Hoffman of Perryville and Bruce and Kay Hoffman of Oklahoma City; one daughter and son in law, Marsha and John Buchheit of Jackson; two stepsons: Ray Vadjos and Allan Vadjos of Ganado, Texas; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one step grandson; and one step great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia; two sisters: Marie Gebhardt and Flora Giesler; and two brothers: Lester and Thomas.

He was the owner and operator of Hoffman Upholstery and owner and operator of Gebhardt and Hoffman MFA Station.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, life member of the VFW, past post commander of the American Legion, and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Rotary.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday, March 10th and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A Catholic wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and the Rosary will be at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 86-year-old Elvis A. Hoffman will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Kevin Fausz, C.M., will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery with military graveside service provided by VFW Post No. 4282.
