L. James ‘Jim’ Huber

A funeral will be held Tuesday, November 21st, 2006 for 79-year-old L. James "Jim" Huber of Perryville, who died Saturday, November 18th at Perry Oaks Manor.

He was born July 5th, 1927 in Perryville, the son of Edwin F. Huber and Inice C. Colin Huber who both preceded him in death.

He married Velma L. Gibbar on July 24th, 1948 in Perryville. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by a sister, Muriel Beeson of Perryville and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Bert Huber.

He was a World War II veteran and the owner of Huber's House of Color from 1961 to 1981.

He was a deputy in the Perry County Sheriff's Department 1980-1981 and was Perryville Police Chief 1982-1985. He was a Deputy U.S. Marshall 1985-1990.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 133 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4282.

He was also a third degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 4-8 this evening (Monday, November 20th) and 6:30-8:50 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers with the Knights of Columbus will be at 7 this evening. An American Legion service will follow. The rosary will be recited at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A funeral for 79-year-old L. James "Jim" Huber of Perryville will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz CM will officiate.

Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 133.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Endowment Fund.
